NORTH AMERICAN QSO PARTY (NAQP) CW and SSB CAUSES A MAJOR ARIZONA OUTLAW UPRISING
NAQP is mainly a team event where AOCC usually fields 4-5 five person teams. Our NAQP organizer, Dave K6LL, does careful work in allocating members to the teams. In the January NAQP CW and SSB events, something truly unusual took place.
For the first time in our brief club history, AOCC had two separate teams that are sitting at First Place USA in both contests, with impressive team claimed scores!

DETERIORATING CONDITIONS MAKE CQWW 160 CW CONTEST A STRUGGLE
The past four years during CQWW 160 CW Contest have been generally strong propagation years, with a good amount of European stations available to work, as well as our usually decent Asian openings.
This year was a major turnaround with most of the big guns reporting much lower scores, on the order of 40%-50% lower than the previous year. Overall lower USA activity, very few workable European stations, and abbreviated Asian openings were the weekend’s rule.
Here’s a quick comparison of significant parameters of two of the club’s CQWW 160 CW multi-op stations as an illustration of the deteriorating conditions this year. One of these multi-op stations is a rather modestly equipped 160 station (N7AT), while the other is a serious 160 station effort (NI5T @ N5BG). Pay special attention to the Country and European totals this year! Ugh.

CONTESTER EDUCATION
There are many sources you can use to obtain a wealth of contester information. The two we’d like to feature this month are those presented by “old guard” contest clubs, Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) and the Northern California Contest Club (NCCC).
PVRC has sponsored many fine, contest-focused webinars the last several years. Fortunately, they have always recorded them and they are available for download here: http://www.pvrc.org/webinar/webinars.htm .
NCCC has a great set of recorded contest related videos as well. Check out this link: http://www.nccc.cc/webinars.html .

Andy KK7AC operates from his Apache County QTH in last year's 7QP.

AOCC NET
Our infinitely able Net-dude/Outlaw, Steve AA7V (ex-KN5H), has worked hard to organize a 75m net for our members! Join us on 3733 each Wednesday night at 7pm MST (0200Z Thursday). Steve is the usual NCS, but other Outlaws will be asked to take the helm as well. Lately, Hank K7HP has stepped up to help out regularly.
Non-members are always welcome.
The Net is mp3-recorded and posted to N7MAL’s website every week. A link to Mal’s site is to the left of this column: “Wednesday Night Net Recordings”. Join In on the Net.
NEW MEMBERS
One new Arizona Outlaw was bushwhacked into joining this past month. We now have 160 members. What a ruckus we can make! A wild Outlaw welcome to:
